Spatial planners create and manage sustainable cities and the countryside and help solve urban problems.
This course focuses specifically on developing and enhancing your knowledge and critical understanding of the principles and practice of urban design to achieve sustainable cities and regions. You’ll be able to suggest intervention strategies to improve regeneration of declining places and cities.
You will also develop your understanding of spatial analysis, statutory planning, property development processes, and sustainability in contemporary cities and sustainable urban design.
Covid-19 is reframing the shape of our places. Planning can support that change and help us achieve a sustainable future. Planning expertise will be crucial in managing change in our built and natural environments and for the wellbeing of people.
Post Covid-19, and with growing attention on the climate emergency, our built environment is unlikely to return to its previous form. The role of planning is vital in the creation of 15-minute cities and other strategies for change at both a local and strategic level.
When graduating from this course your could work in areas such as:urban and rural planning, natural resources and environmental protection, city regeneration, renewable energies, urban design, urban conservation, property development, housing developmentpublic policy, environmental impact assessments and transport.

The Pre Masters Program will prepare you for the UK, EU or US study system, giving you the confidence and skills that you’ll need to go further in your studies. Depending on your academic qualification and English language level and chosen programme, you can study the IIM over one or two terms.

Students at the International College may be considered for a number of Scholarships that are part of the University of Dundee Scholarship offerings, such as the Global Citizenship Scholarship which awards students up to £5,000 per year of study. Another award is the ICD Progressing with Excellence Scholarship which recognises academic achievement while studying at the International College and awards up to £6,000 per year of study.
These scholarships are awarded for the University of Dundee period of study. Other Scholarships may be available for the ICD period of study, and you should contact your agent or Oxford International regional representative for full details of these.

Oxford International offers a number of scholarship opportunities for students applying for an academic course under the Core Scholarship. The scholarships are targeted at different regions around the world, awards range from partial contribution towards tuition fees to awards covering part or full pathway course fees at the international college.
