On this course you will be encouraged to make links between philosophy and psychology. We specialise in continental (European) philosophy and teach key texts from the European tradition.
We help you look at how philosophy is important to real-world concerns and contemporary issues by, exploring films and artwork, discussing important scientific and technological developments, debating controversial ethical issues, and looking at how texts written 300 years ago can be relevant to political situations today
You’ll receive a grounding in ancient and modern philosophy and be introduced to fundamental ideas concerning ethics, epistemology (the nature of knowledge) and metaphysics (the nature of reality), before specialising in areas that suit your own interests
Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. Topics we cover include how babies learn, the way in which people’s mental skills change as they grow older, various personalities and how social group dynamics work. You will also study different psychological disorders.
In addition to exploring these aspects of human nature, you will learn how to think critically and to solve problems. We will teach you to analyse data, write clearly and effectively, and be a confident communicator of science. You will learn how to plan, implement and analyse your own research project.
A philosophy degree provides you with wide-ranging skills which are an advantage in any professional career. You will be able to identify and explain the underlying issues in all kinds of debates and arguments and offer clear responses.

The International Year Zero is the first year of the four year undergraduate course. IYZ is designed to help you gain extra skills in your subject area, as well as English Language, before you continue to year one of your chosen University undergraduate degree course.
Following successful completion of the IYZ, you will continue onto Year One of your degree directly with the University of your choice.

Students at the International College may be considered for a number of Scholarships that are part of the University of Dundee Scholarship offerings, such as the Global Citizenship Scholarship which awards students up to £5,000 per year of study. Another award is the ICD Progressing with Excellence Scholarship which recognises academic achievement while studying at the International College and awards up to £6,000 per year of study.
These scholarships are awarded for the University of Dundee period of study. Other Scholarships may be available for the ICD period of study, and you should contact your agent or Oxford International regional representative for full details of these.

Oxford International offers a number of scholarship opportunities for students applying for an academic course under the Core Scholarship. The scholarships are targeted at different regions around the world, awards range from partial contribution towards tuition fees to awards covering part or full pathway course fees at the international college.
